ASICS Fleet Pre-London Half Marathon News Newsletter Issue 1 – 15th November 2009 Amazon Windows & Conservatories continue with their support to the local community and wish all the runners a successful race, with some PBs being achieved. Fleet & Crookham AC is delighted to announce that on-line entries are open for the ASICS Fleet Pre-London Half Marathon which will be held on Sunday 21st March 2010 around the same course as in 2009. A downloadable entry form is also available from the website should you wish to enter by post. Now in its 29th year, the 2010 event is being dedicated to Colin Gostelow, the founder of the race who sadly died in July 2009. Colin always believed that the race should be organised by “Runners for Runners” and over the years made continued efforts to always improve the race and see every aspect of the race from the runner’s perspective. We strive to continue this and will think about Colin’s approach in everything we do to make it the perfect day. After a few years away from organising the event, I promised Colin last year that I would take the race directorship on once again and keep his event going for as long as we can. Colin taught me much over the years and both I and Fleet & Crookham AC miss him greatly. There are three ways to enter the race:
On-line entries are now open. We look forward to welcoming the ASICS and Sweatshop teams back to the 2010 event. They have both been our main sponsors for several years now. We also welcome back Amazon Windows and Conservatories one of our local partners – again they have supported us for several years. Our lead car with be provided by Barons BMW of Farnborough – in 2009 they kindly jumped in to help at the last moment due to a previous lead car sponsor going out of business – we are delighted they have decided to continue with this support. We would love to hear any runners’ stories as to why you are running in our event. We can help to give you some publicity so please let us know if you are running for a special reason. So start the training, ignore the winter cold and winds and clock up those miles so come the 21st March, you can enjoy your run knowing you have done the training. We look forward to welcoming you back to Calthorpe Park on the 21st March 2010 and watching fast feet run round Fl Penny Abbott Race Director Fleet Half Marathon |
