ASICS Fleet Pre-London Half Marathon News 5 March 2008: Road closure details during the Half Marathon The ASICS Pre-London Fleet Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 16th March 2008. As in previous years, the organisers have secured a road closure relating to the roads on which the race takes place. This is a rolling road closure with the roads reopened as soon as possible after the runners have passed. A full list of the roads affected and a map of the route are attached to this press release. The signage on the race route notes the times that individual roads will be closed. Our own Web site at www.fleethalfmarathon.com also contains a listing of the roads affected together with anticipated closing and re-opening times. The ASICS Fleet Pre-London Half Marathon is always grateful for the support of the people of Fleet. We receive many comments from spectators and local residents who, despite a small level of disruption on the race weekend, appreciate that a major sporting event is not only a wonderful spectacle but it also raises the profile of the town of Fleet. The main sponsor for the event is ASICS, the international sports company. Local sponsors are Amazon Windows, Hart District Council and Thomas Day Motors. We are also happy to welcome 96.4 Eagle, the local radio station who will be adding to the race atmosphere with the Love Crew. The sponsors' contribution is vital to ensure the race maintains its renowned respect within the athletics arena. The Fleet Half Marathon is one of the UK’s most popular and prestigious half marathons. Founded in 1981, the same year as the London Marathon, the race has attracted top runners and many thousands of runners have completed the fast course. At the same time, charities have benefited from runners raising thousands of pounds. For more information contact publicity@fleethalfmarathon.com. Fast Feet Run Round Fleet ENDS |
